You are starting off as a Krav Maga practitioner… you are going to need to get kitted out with some essential Krav Maga kit for protection and safety in training.
Ask the instructor if you are not completely sure what you’ll need for training in a Krav Maga class.
You need to have a water bottle and a sweat towel, these are easily purchased. Comfortable clothing is strongly recommended for training at your Krav Maga classes. Training clothes may include gym shorts/sports pants, yoga pants, a baggy t-shirt, a sports bra, and decent breathable socks. Our training environment gets warm, so you will want to wear clothing that will keep you cool and comfortable.
Boxing hand wraps are my favourite way to support the wrist. With all the push-ups and punching that we do it´s important to provide that area with the necessary support. The 3-4 meter lengths can be a little difficult to put on, but there are slip on versions that are pretty good.
You should buy MMA style gloves, but not Boxing gloves. As soon as you know Krav Maga is your new hobby you should invest in a good pair of striking gloves. Avoid the cheaper (low quality stuff).
Only dedicated mat shoes are allowed to be used on the mats. Not your indoor gym shoes or runners you only use on the treadmill. The only shoes we allow on the mats are boxing or wrestling shoes.
You´re going to want to invest in a good quality groin protection and a mouth guard. Knee and elbow pads are optional, and only recommended if you are prone to bruising easily.
In my Krav Maga classes more aggressive sparring and combat drills will start after about 6 months of regular attendance. At this point, headgear and boxing gloves are advised.
